Cool find.

Thanks live4evermom. It is amazing that I even saw it. The sun was high and bright at the time and at first I thought it was a dead bug that had been planted there by a butcher bird. Thanks for stopping by.

I have never heard of this species. Great photos! I would have been scared to death to get so close. Ü

These are fantastic macro shots! My favorite is the upper left corner in the square.

Oh my goodness! I can't believe the detail of the face on this creature...

I've just discovered your blogs and have enjoyed them immensely. We have much in common. I enjoy nature photography and have homeschooled for many years. We are Christians and attend a Reformed church. I am fairly new to blogging and just have a hobby blog, which lead me to your nature photography blog.

Paulie - I didn't know it was a jumping spider, or I definitely would not have gotten that close, either!

Beth - thank you.

Tiffany - what I love about macro is discovering things like facial detail that I cannot see with my own poor vision.

Robin - thank you. I am thrilled that you found me. In reality, all of my blogs are "hobby" blogs, too.

Great photos of a great spider! This is at least the 3rd spider species I've seen that has a "happy face" on its back. Neat!!!

That spider looks amazing!
I'm not sure that I would like to be so close to one of those!

Now I feel bad that I just killed one of these in my bedroom that snuck in after the rains :( Would have been prettier *outside!*
